The Fan is named Hybrid for good reason – firstly it offers the performance of an inline fan in the convenience and elegance of an easy to install, ceiling mounted fan. The performance benefits include a high extraction rate, as well as the ability to work well against pressure. The most obvious contributor to pressure is ducting, and this fan is designed to retain its extraction rate over longer runs of ducting when compared to most other ceiling mounted fans. The below shows the size of the centrifugal impeller within the motor housing – the fan has been cleverly engineered with maximum impeller size powered by a European ball bearing motor.
This is further illustrated with the below pressure curve. We have added points of reference to the below curve, which illustrate approximately the extraction rate at specific duct lengths. For example, with 6 meters of ducting the unit will still output over 400 m3/hr. In comparison to most other models on the market, 6 meters of ducting would dramatically reduce performance and in many cases it would end up being halved, or worse. Modern, well insulated roof spaces dictate that your bathroom exhaust fan should be ducted to either a roof, eave or wall vent – the Hybrid has been designed with this in mind.
Hybrid Pressure Curve
It is a legal requirement in most of Australia to connect your bathroom fan to a terminating vent – this aside its simply good practice for overall roofspace health & to prevent moisture related issues.
The fan is also Hybrid in terms of noise – this high output in terms of airflow does not mean you have a noisy motor – in fact the noise level of this fan sits at 36 dB(A). We have found comparable fans in terms of extraction rate to be more in the 42-45 range. The fan is the perfect choice if you are looking for high extraction rate, high performance with minimal associated noise.
The Hybrid has been designed with retrofitting in mind – the unit will fit into a hole size of 300mm (diameter), which happens to be a fairly common retrofit size. If your ceiling hole is smaller, its generally not too difficult to cut the gyprock to make it larger – a cutting template is provided with the product. As the fan comes with a lead and plug, providing you have a powerpoint installed in the roof its a simple plug and play installation. The unit is held in place with simple plasterboard clips, no need to fabricate a supporting frame, or ensure its located close to a supporting ceiling beam.
The modern fascia looks great, its also very easy to keep clean! The discreet design is far removed from the outdated ‘grille style’ covers and will compliment your modern bathroom renovation. The covers are finished in a ‘matte’ rather than glossy or overly appliance white style, which adds to its elegance. Built in is an energy efficient, CCT (colour changing) LED light panel. Choose from Cool White 6500K, Natural white 4000K or Warm white 3000K to achieve your desired light temperature.
The fan also includes a built in draft stopper, which means when the unit is not in operation the system will be closed, therefore preventing any unwanted drafts from entering your bathroom.
The duct outlet on the fan is designed to accommodate 150mm ducting, with flexible ducting typically used for bathroom applications.
The Hybrid is powered by a top of the range, European made motor. The product is assembled and quality checked in Europe for Fanco Australia, to ensure that the product you receive conforms to the exact specifications and requirements outlined above.
